Shave Profile
Founded by singer/songwriter/keyboardist Brian Riley, Shave
Librarian's
first two full-length recording projects, ARIEL
(1994) and DONE DOG BROWN
(1995) were independently released in Ohio. They were recorded at the famous Recording Workshop. Fronted by Riley,
the band continues to consist of an ever-evolving cast of talented
session musicians and vocalists.
Riley transplanted the Shave sound to Boston in 1995. He recorded
the third Shave Librarian project, a 10-song CD titled THE
BUTTER THIEF at IRN Studios
in Brighton, MA. Several local studio musicians, including the
owners of IRN
contributed their talents to this critically acclaimed CD (released
1997).
Since moving to Boston, Shave Librarian/Shave Records have
been fortunate to work with some very talented graphic artists
such as
Hartley Batchelder.
Hartley came on board for The
Butter Thief and has continued
to contribute his talents to God
Of Rain, Uncle
Joe and other
Shave promotional material. Nathan Hade of Spilt
Ink Graphics chunked out the fabulous SailorSam
CD cover
and logo.
GOD OF
RAIN was released in 2000. This powerful 8-song CD was recorded
at Big
T Productions in Chinatown (Boston). Shave Librarian would
like to thank Tony Schultz, owner/engineer of Big T Productions
as well as Jonathan Wyner at M
Works Mastering in Cambridge, MA for contributing their
talents and expertise.
Their latest CD Single,
"Uncle Joe"
(2003) was featured in the independent film "20
Questions". Riley also made his film/acting debut...
2004 marked ten years of Shave Librarian recordings. Shave
Records celebrated with the release of a 15-song 'Greatest
Hits' CD.
2007- Most of the Shave Librarian catalog is now available through iTunes, eMusic & Rhapsody.
Stay tuned for a new 8-song
CD release from Riley's new band, SailorSam.
This project tips its hat to the 30th anniversary of America's
Bicentennial Year (1976). Remember when Red White & Blue was
FUN???
Stay tuned... Stay Shaved...
